My Fragmented Soul
“My heart has been shattered into a million pieces!”
Sound familiar? Or maybe I should say FEEL familiar? We all have moments in our lives where it feels like something broke. Something on the inside was ripped apart. Something deep down was taken away. A part of your very “being” crushed or stolen. And whatever that thing was that was said or done, leaves us feeling dismantled emotionally, mentally, and even physically. It may be on a mild scale, or it may be on a full blown, “downward spiral, I don’t think I can survive” scale. Either way, the brokenness, loss and emptiness prevents us from functioning through life the way we did before, or ultimately the way we were created to walk through life.
Your soul has been fragmented. Let me explain. Trauma can look like a lot of different things. There are the obvious things like abuse; sexual, emotional, physical. That alone encompasses a lot of things. Ritual abuse is pretty deep when dealing with occult practices, witchcraft, curses, false idol worship. All the damage that comes along with those things are very real. But trauma can also look like losing a loved one, a horrific accident, being betrayed, walking into a fearful situation that catches you off guard, being taken advantage of, treated as if you’re worthless, rejection, being controlled or manipulated, wounded by a “trusted authority figure”, a health diagnosis you never saw coming, being taken away from your family, and so many more things that “unfairly” happen to good people that don’t deserve it.
We live in a very fallen world where horrible, unsuspecting things happen that we don’t have control over, and they come when we least expect it. When trauma happens, it doesn’t just affect our emotions or feelings, it affects your whole soul. Your thoughts, will, and emotions. Your heart. Literally, a piece of your soul has been broken. A part of your heart fragmented and pulled away from the rest of your heart. The word “fragment” means “a small part broken or separated off something.” To think that each time you are wounded a small part of your heart or soul is broken or separated off, brings a picture in my mind of the broken/shattered feeling we experience when something horrific happens to us. Devastation. Even though many times we cope by shutting down or going into “self-protect” mode in order to not feel the hurt, it’s there under the surface remaining, and we wonder why we experience the effects of numbness, anger, lashing out, insecurity, relationships that don’t last, fear, internal turmoil, frustration, isolation, addictions, disorders, depression, anxiety, and so much more. The symptoms of a fragmented soul.
Sadly, the enemy doesn’t play fair. He could care less if you were the one to commit a “crime” or if it was someone else who committed the crime against you. He takes advantage of EVERY opportunity to torment and bring you and I into captivity, and he will even use the things done TO US. He feeds on our pain. The fragmented soul is vulnerable. It’s in a state of trying to find refuge, but the enemy tricks us into thinking we can manage on our own. It’s the place where lies take root. Lies that feel true. A fragmented soul is in a state of brokenness that only Jesus can repair. If we can come to a place of acknowledgement, and bring our brokenness to Him, He will restore our soul. Not just a part of it, but the whole thing. He is willing to go to the depths of those broken places, in order to bring the fragmented pieces out of captivity (the places the trauma occurred) and into wholeness. He loves you that much and cares about your heart beyond what you can imagine. He created that heart. He longs for it to be back in alignment with Him.
Jesus said in John 16:33 “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” There isn’t anything beyond repair or any part of you that is too far gone that he can’t restore. He knows you better than you know yourself! The parts that seem lost or buried, are seen by your Heavenly Father. He knows. He sees. He heals. David said it well in the Psalms. Psalm 34:18: "The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit." Or how about Psalm 147:3: "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds." He reassures us that healing is possible through divine intervention with Him! One of my favorites that ISN’T just for funerals, but for each day, is the reminder of Psalm 23:2-3, “He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. HE RESTORES MY SOUL.” And that’s His heart's desire for you. To give you peace and rest, by restoring your soul. Healing your heart. And not only that, removing the forces of darkness that have taken advantage of these fragmented pieces.
Luke 10:19 says,” I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.” He has given us ALL AUTHORITY. He paid for it on the cross when he chose to carry our pain and hurt. When he paid for the forgiveness of all our sins. When he descended into hell and took back the keys to death and the grave. When He rose from the grave and shattered death for all eternity. He also gave us all authority to overcome the enemy and all his minions. Not only can we receive healing and wholeness of our hearts, but we can command all spirits of trauma, rejection, lies, manipulation, control, unforgiveness, hate, fear, grief and more to leave in the name of Jesus. And they have to listen! The enemy uses the cracks and broken places against us. He comes to our most vulnerable places. He’s an opportunist, a liar, a cheat, a thief, and a legalist. If we come into agreement with any of his tactics in our most fragile state, he will move in and create turmoil and chaos in our lives. He’s the peace thief. He comes to steal, kill, and destroy.
But Jesus has provided life and restoration. If we come to Him with all our broken pieces and surrender to Him, we can partner with His truth, receive healing, and take back what the enemy has stolen. Just like Jesus did. He freely gives us the tools to overcome. We just have to do our part. Surrender. Let go. Believe. Receive. Take authority. Walk out the Freedom. It may seem too simple. That’s because it is simple. Jesus doesn’t overcomplicate things. He meets us right where we’re at. His love goes beyond to rescue us. Let’s walk the healing journey together. All that Jesus originally intended for you to have is waiting just on the other side of your healing. He longs for you to come to Him and let Him put all the pieces back together exactly how they’re meant to be. So you can be the version of yourself that He saw you to be from the very beginning. Will you trust Him today? The battle has already been won. Today is the day to walk that out and be set free. Rescued by your Father. Held by Him. Resting in His peace. Healed by His perfect love.
Repent, ask for forgiveness for any sin or being in agreement with lies.
Renounce all sin.
Release all pain and trauma to Jesus and extend forgiveness to those who’ve hurt you.
Receive truth from Jesus and healing for heart wounds by faith.
Remove all unclean spirits attached to wounds. Command them all to leave in Jesus' name!
Resist the enemy and he will flee! Put on Armor of God and stand in your authority in Christ!
Renew your mind by daily reading the Word, worshipping, fellowshipping with other believers, and talking to Jesus in prayer.
If you need help doing any of these things, please reach out to a team member. We would love to walk alongside you in this.
